About
My name is Mariadaria (Marida for short) and I'm a British/Danish/Italian PhD student in the Novembre Group at the University of Chicago. I am currently in my third year of the Human Genetics Program, and my research interests focus around environment sharing and vertical cultural transmission, as well as spatial population genetics, and ancient DNA. I was previously in the Racimo lab at the University of Copenhagen, where I completed an MSc in Bioinformatics. Even before that, I did my undergrad in Natural Sciences (Biological) at King's College, Cambridge.

Volunteering
- Marketing Director — UC COMBO (Computational Biology Outreach) Leadership team member since 2023. UC COMBO is a trainee-led outreach initiative based in the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Chicago, focused on bringing computational biology education to K–12 and high school students across Chicago. As Marketing Director, I oversee branding, and public-facing communications, helping expand access to hands-on genetics and statistics workshops.
